Create business with what? Do you know how much the governments of the industrialized countries pour into their countries to help create businesses and for innovations?
For example the discount rate (the rate at which eligible banks borrow from the central bank/FED) for the US federal reserve for over a year now is a mere 0.75%. Which means that commercial banks can loan for even about 1% and make some income. And this rate is much higher than during the recession. Now fast forward to the 20% plus in Ghana and see how anyone creates or grows his/her company.

We must all identify problems that do exist in our communities and solve those problems. that is the only way we can create jobs. One thousand of them should go and learn to repair mobile phones and they will make money. LCDs are now coming into the system they should go learn to repair LCDs. Our senior high schools should reduce the teaching of history, Literature and geography and increase the output in agriculture, auto services, and the science that can lead our brothers and sister into nursing, pharmacy etc. Lastly University professors should develop courses but not in archeology and zoology.

So CEOs were asked to tell whether they forsee increasing their employment levels in the next six months. Majority said no, cos they have challenges. This story makes it sound as if the companies can employ but have deliberately decide not to. Am I the only one who sees things this way?

More than 80% of newly employed workers would tell u that they are not receiving their salaries for more than 5 months now. What kind of heartless government do we have in Ghana? The fact of the matter is this, you have inept leaders who are not concerned about any body but themselves. The Education structure is terribly wrong. We keep producing general degree graduates instead of technical graduates, who can graduate and set up businesses for themselves. Look at the example of India and Isreal. How the Isrealis are able to turn arid lands into farm lands. How the Indians are able to manufacture The TATA vehicles. Use such modules to train students who will gradute to set up businesses in concert with the govt. or go solo. And this is not rocket science. A leader who has vision as Nkrumah did by education which is still sustaining the country today should know. However, today we don't have leaders who are selfless as Nkrumah, rather selfish, greedy bandits of "create , loot and share".

Let try to define the word "graduate"from the academic point of view. -A graduate is one given a Diploma or Degree,right ! Therefore,the word graduate is not a profession by itself but falls into different categories of professional,like Civil Engineering,Mechanical engineering, etc etc
So if you hold a degree in say Mechanical engineering,your association should be
"Mechanical and Civil Engineering Association of Ghana(if it's combined).etc etc
So what is the meaning,reason,purpose and relevance of "Unemployed Graduate Asso.
Again, with majority of the people coming out of School with degrees,what is the reason for this distinction.
It's only in Ghana that one can hear of such
good for nothing,bogus Asso.The Country needs all school levels including those who have never stepped into a class room before to develop,if the leadership is serious.I must emphasize that,one who holds a degree is not a better person than the one who has never Schooled before.Because all and sundry have
