  NDC government has never supported coca farmers, for it is dominated by Akans. Destroying Cocoa industry is one of Ewes dominated NDC to poorize Akans.NDC government destroyed most of our farmers cocoa farms in Western Region without any reason. They sent in their unproductive NDC youth to cut down cocoa trees with jubilation. This cursed party formed by a cursed family of JJ Rawlings is very bad for Ghana.
  
  Ghana will never prosper if NDC continues to rule Ghana. I implore Dr. Opuni and others to encourage their children to enter cocoa production. When such men's children are in this sector of our economy, government will take care of our cocoa farmers. Our cocoa farmers, who have shouldered mos of the financing projects since Ghana's independence.

  My brother i do agree with you in toto.Let some of Ghana's elite who benefitted from CMB scholarship go into cocoa farming. Cocoa scholarship went to children of the elite government officials from central, volta, and the northern regions while depriving children of the farmers who were producing cocoa to generate revenue for the state. I have sworn and warned my siblings, nephews and what nots never to venture into cocoa farming.

  Intricacies of cocoa farming is only learnt on the job, plus the physical labour, unlike other farm products. It is for this reason our parents apprenticed their children on the farms, which our leaders (blindly following the developed countries that have alternatives) have branded CHILD LABOUR.
  Which school, from creche to the university, trains to produce cocoa farmers, fishermen, and the like? Every parent now wants the child to be educated to get out of this 'accursed' vocation (and to be able to 'subah' or 'gyeeda' or even 'woyomise').
  CHANGE THE CIRCUMSTANCE OF THE COCOA FARMER, THE FISHERMAN and this won't be a concern again.
  NVTI tried it with Kumasi Magazine and the local fitters are now able to use modern computer based diagnostic machines. Set up special schools in the cocoa growing areas to teach the young ones (as you improve their circumstances) and the difference will be clear!

  The basic truth is that the current price of cocoa on the world market is not enough to sustain the farmers. The price of cocoa in 2014 is still lower than in 1980. This is mainly because the multinational companies that produce chocolate have been squeezing farmers for decades by reducing the share of money that is given to farmers in the price of chocolate and keeping bigger and bigger shares for themselves.

  Dear Dr. Opuni, This is good initiative but please make sure the board members are not only the PhDs you have named in this report but more importantly other well seasoned business executives and entrepreneurs who will start to treat cocoa farming or agriculture in general as a business. Most research reports at CRIG etc. end up on the shelves in the offices of the researchers. It is high time we bridge the gap between research and business. Also adopt incentive programs such as forgiveness of student loans, access to finance etc. to young graduates who are willing to go into cocoa farming every year. Cocoboard can use its financial capabilities in this regard by announcing such programs at the various universities which offer agriculture as an area of specialization, thus bridging the gap between the private sector and academia. This is a sector where we have comparative and competitive advantages in the global supply chain and every effort should be made to increase our productivity or at the bare minimum to sustain it. We shall be tracking to see if you were able to achieve these goals during your tenure.

  People live in houses and want to ply good roads.But the brick layer and the road Construction labourers have no respect or recognition in our Society.So not until Ghanaian have a revolution in the mind to recognize all and sundry,to embrace the fact that nation building requires the services of all levels and trade of people. There's going to be a time absolutely very very few people would dare venture into farming etc.
  What is the academic title of the CEO ,huh !
  "Dr". So why is Dr Opuni Crying .Every one wants his/her Child if possible, to be the boss.Because education is the only key. now in Ghana to feel as a Humankind.

  The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. They must ask the King of Akyem (Okyehene) for land in constructing this edifice. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data of the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:
  
  Gold mining
  Diamond mining
  Cocoa
  Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
  Timber
  Software development
  etc
  
  The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.
  
  The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.
