  Ghana has three hydroelectric dams: Akosombo dam, Kpong hydroelectric dam and the newly constructed Bui dam. Aside this we have the Aboadze power and Takoradi power plants. I am sure by now we can all conclude that the decision to invest in the West Africa Gas Pipeline was not a prudent one because Nigeria has admitted that they would not be able to supply us with the gas that we need.
  
  However what is disturbing is that the additional power being generated is not being used by our industries or consumers. We supply Togo, Benin and Nigeria through two grids one in the south and one in the North. We also supply ivory coast and Burkina Faso with electricity. Inspite of this the cost of electricity to the average consumer has not declined and many would tell you that it is very expensive. There is another thing I don't understand. The government sometimes tells us there is power crises meanwhile electricity supply to other countries from Ghana continues unabated.
  
  A look at the map of the national electricity grid would tell you straight away that the at least 12 Akyem districts in the Eastern Region which make up more than half the population of the region have been cheated.
  
  In the load shedding exercise it is imperative that some key areas be left out. This should include where the three arms of government work and reside like Sakumono where MPs (representatives) reside and flag staff house and osu castle where the President works and resides. Where the chief justice works and resides should also be included. It should also include the premises of key government institutions like ministries.We need to quadruple our electricity production within the next four years but not through foreign investors.

  I will definitely come home and help run the plant for you if the call out comes. I've been in charge of similar plants in North America for over 15 years.
  Home will always be home so I'm prepared to come home and help. My only request will be that all political interference in the running of the plant should be removed. All political appointees and their cohorts will have no place in the plant if I'm put in charge.
  I will interview and hire the qualified Engineers I'll be working with. No square pegs in round holes because that's the way I can guarantee good or perfect results.

  Expert who have been in charge of power plant. But who cannot assemble a turbine or even tell when the turbine is assembled backwards.

  Now the minister is holding a closed door meeting with them to lower their empty clout and power as thin gods over VRA to allow at least an outsider to take us to the promise land of non interruption of power.

  The solution is to Fly VRA engineers to Russia for training and when they come, years of practice will easily make them experts. This importation of foreign experts all the time won't help the country

  We just don't want to get our hands dirty as wearing suits is now linked to intelligence and power even if you're the dumbest person on the block.
  The out look of a US or Russian engineer with better qualification in terms of technical know-how, is miles away from his Ghanaian counterpart with the same education.
