The problem is not training, the problem is bribery and corruption of officials at the ports. It does not matter how much training port officials go through they will still collect bribe and dupe customers. Bribery and corrup ...

We do not need a ports training school. You have only 2 lousy ports. What needs to be done is to take back the Regional Maritime Academy to meet its original purpose to serve Ghanaian interests first (instead of meaningless parochial ones). Recombine Ports Authority with the Railways and Civil Aviation, and broaden curriculum of the Maritime school to handle related engineering and administrative and business aspects of maritime, road, and air transportation of people and goods. Whiles at it, include off-shore mining activities. That is what you need, not a silly scheme to make money from nothing

It is very good for the port Authority to established port training institute,this idea is not to rubbish the Regional Maritime University,
Port Training Institute is purposely there for Practical Equipment Training and specific maritime related job task which dose not include the course the University offer.
RMU dose not train practically on equipment like Ship to Shore, Rubber Tired Gantry, Mobile Harbour,Vessel cranes,Reach Stacker,forklift and Terminal Tractors operation,Pin men, lasher and many more who work hand in hand in the port, That is why the port training institute is to come in place so all the above mention skills or perfections can have academic and practical and experience training, not the Basic training any more.
So Mr Author:JoJO WILLIAMS Don't be worried about Port Institute it will not take away any course of the Regional Maritime University,this is the Answer to your comment.
