If one goes from 1 to 2 it is considered a hundred percent increase. So we all know how anybody can grab a piece some numbers or ratios and throw around to show improvement.Compare Ghana's economy to Malaysia or South Korea, two countries whose GDP per capital were way below that of Ghana about 35 years ago, and you know how poorly we have performed over the years. Don't be fooled by the honky-dolly GDP incremental figures being thrown around by the Minister of Finance. The reality is that Ghana is still a country where citizens are still seeking economic asylum in Brazil in the name of "fake" political asylum; and these are followers of the ruling party. The state of the Ghanaian economy is deplorable with high unemployment, unbearable inflation, fast depreciating cedi vis-a-vis other international currencies as well as high-level of corruption in all layers of government. With every rainfall the few tarred roads are being washed away to the annals of the Azonto road network system. The National Health System is bankrupt and failure of the Government to pay Cocoa farmers their bonuses is making it financially difficult for more and more farmers to access basic healthcare. Our educational system is has broken down for lack of adequate investment, non-payment of teachers, mismanagement and corruption. Rural development is only given lip service but no where to be seen with rural roads, healthcare facilities and schools being neglected to the level of stone-age infrastructure. This is the real state of our economy and country! Forget the spin-doctoring of the State of Affairs in Ghana.
