  The setting up of the District Mining Committees, which is a requirement in the Minerals and Mining Act 2006 (Act 703, Section 92) would help improve the management of the SSM Sector at the local, decentralised and district level, but the quest of the matter on who (whether MINCOM or MMDCE) to fund the District Mining Committees is in abeyance.
  
  In conclusion, ASMAN is calling for an all-inclusive concerted effort with the Regulatory Bodies, Chieftaincy, Civil Society, Law Enforcement and the Industry Players through 'Stakeholders Analysis' for the Development of Small Scale Mining in Ghana.

  It is true government gets taxes but how can small scale mines contribute 34% of gold sales? A lot of our gold is sent out without proper records. No wonder $80m of gold from Ghana was seized in Turkey. There is serious collusion between government and these stupid whites mining companies. AGC has over 150 sq miles concession but have been working on only 9 square miles, leaving a lot of our rural folk with nothing to do. Rumours have it that GRA staff who are placed at the mining companies to collate records for tax purposes etc are given huge benefit packages and so they end up colluding with the mining companies and they hide many figures. These GRA staff are allowed to remain at the mining posts because the mining companies claim it is difficult to train new people posted. Ghana shouldn't be poor but for silly greedy bastards milking this nation.
