How much revenue does the government earn at the KIA as compared to Takoradi and Tema ports to opt costly Airline over cheaper and safer Shipping line? How much of our products is shipped by sea compared to Ghanaian travellers. This airline crap is for their own selfish interests not that of mother Ghana's development and advancement.

Our leaders have become so greedy and corrupt that they can steal any money that come in their sight.
Quality leaders we don't have now and every Ghanaian knows that is the truth.if even we form the airline , which people are going yo fun the affairs.party men and women who don't have any idea how these things Are done. Jobs for the boys yes, but not these sensitive areas which require some expertise please.

Well, the government is apportioned only 5% stake here, a great percentage is opted for indigenous Ghanaians hence bringing the total percentage in both the hands of govern and Ghanaians to a majority bid of 51%. The remaining 49% is an open bidding among foreigners and even then, Ghanaians with foreign nationality can join in on that venture as well. This is a good deal and hopefully a profitable venture.

Yes Ghana needs indigenously owned airlines but not government owned. What government needs to do is to provide the environment that will enable the indigenous owned airlines to grow.

1. Lower the landing and airport fees.
2. Give tax breaks to indigenous carriers on fuel, parts importation
etc.
3. Improve the KIA facility - Build new international terminal on the Air Force Station Side and remove Burma Camp so new runways can be built there with mulitiple access to airport from Spintex, Beach and Gifford Road.
4. GCAA should encourage Accra or Tamale to become a regional repair center.

In essence Government should look to establish airline champions as based on the current models from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil etc. A government owned and run airline will simply result in failure due to political and bureaucratic interference. The only known successful government owned airline with a long history of survival and profitability is Ethiopian Airlines.

This new Ghana Airways is going to end up in disaster and costing the Ghanaian taxpayer millions of US$.

We have many airlines to and from Ghana now. Insead,the money should be used to improve the appalling Power,Water,Health and Road conditions in the country! What do we need an Airline for when in this 21st Century people are still sleeping in DARKNESS,people are still drinking Untreated waters,using these horrible roads. Why an Airline when people are dying each day due to lack of proper and adequate Health care? Oh Stop it and stop it very well bcos it is irrelevant.
