  In the case of ProCredit and Fidelity,it is purely the taste of foreign investor and the situation of dollar to Ghana cedis plus the current status of the Savings and Loan target market.Period

  I think its better we get out of this joke and do a propar recapitalisation as was done in Nigeria and Malaysia, we are simply just ramancing the poor strenght of our banks and not addressing the real issues. Banks acquiring S&LC is just a case of a frog swallowing a toad, results of which they both belong to the stream waters and not the torrent rivers where big boys play. How long are we surpose to remain in our small dreams when the likes of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda are already rubbing shoulders with the big boys like Nigeria ans South Africa on the continent. Why do we continue to grant Banking lincenses when the existing ones are still stuggling to make-up. Virtually all S&LC dream of becoming banks in a small economy as Ghana's. Common, lets get serious for once, Nigeria proned down from 89 banks to 25 very strong institutions snd today have 13 among the world's top banks. Why are we always late in taking decisions not until smaller economies have shown the way.
