So Ghana is currently producing its own oil and gas, but we're going to ignore that, and rather IMPORT something else to make our electricity.... let me be the first to congratulate the deep thinkers for coming up with this one.
Just as a side note, the countries that depend on coal for electricity generation, ARE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE THEIR OWN COAL. Countries with gas use that, oil, deserts (solar), oceans (tidal power), highlands (winds), etc. For a country that is doing so much to invest in gas and oil, it amazes me that gov't would support something like this.
The problem is they will end up signing some stupid deal that give the Chinese free money even if they don't generate power... next, judgment debt

The Chinese are here for the money and Ghana with poor EPA records and monitoring will be no match for the Chinese to violate. Just google and read about what causes smog/particulates in the Chinese capital city.
Oh God save Ghana from coal pollutants.

If the Hon.Kofi Armah Buah does not want to be cursed by future generations, whose health will be affected negatively by this crime against humanity that this project represents, let him go to South Africa, and visit the communities in the high veld where Eskom's coal-fired power plants are located - and interact with the residents there.
They will tell him about the hell on earth they have been condemned to live, in because their leaders allowed Eskom to build their coal-fired power plants in the western high-altitude side of the high veld.
Thousands are losing their lives from cardiovascular diseases and lung infections resulting from the air pollution caused by the emissions of the coal-fired power plants.
Why does Mr Xi Xiaohai's confounded company not import wood chips from the USA and build a biomass power plant instead?
He could help develop rural communities establish agro-forestry plantations of fast-growing tree species on marginal and degraded land poisoned by illegal gold miners, to supply feedstock (wood chips and wood pellets) to his power plant.
That will create wealth across rural Ghana, will it not?
Some of us weep for Mother Ghana - being brutally gang-raped by ruthless and greedy individuals, who do not care one jot about the effect of their actions on the natural environment and their fellow human beings. Pity.
The clever Mr. Xi Xiaohais, canny carpetbaggers who buy our ruling elites to sanction such dangerous projects are enemies of Ghana, not friends of the Ghanaian people. Shame on them - how they must think we are all so stupid in Ghana. Shame on our ruling elites - who think only about increasing their net-worth: even at the cost of the welfare of our people and the well-being of our nation. How sad.
go into solar please
