The question is not Ghana should be hedging or reducing petrol prices in Ghana ; the world dynamics for the oil prices are falling fast ; the Saudis are concerned ; the US are divsifying its oil inflow by laying the oil pipe lines fro Canada; China is doing big deals in oil with Russia; this going to affect the the whole dynamics of our budget deficit in future ; these are the key issues at stake for Ghana ; the world for oil is changing for the demand for oil ; what does Ghana do about it as usual they will TALK AND TALK AND TALK and do nothing; a good guess is that prices will fall to 55 dollars a barrel in another 6 months time.

The Government must be worried that it borrowed so much against the oil proceeds. Ghana will sell all its oil yet it will not be able to pay off the debts. They could have benefited if payments are in barrels of crude and not in monetary value. Oil prices will continue to fall even with the intervention of the cartels. Most oil producers are cash stripped and in some binding contracts and therefore have no choice than to continue to pump the black gold. Others may hold to withstand the storm, but even that we cannot be certain that prices will come back up because of the following. Car manufacturers are coming with low fuel consumption cars and electric cars. Solar and wind energy are gradually holding foot and many countries are discovering more and more oil. Even US the biggest oil consumer is pumping more crude than ever. Your best bet is to refine the oil in your country and stop cutting deals to get the full benefit of the oil discovery. Local artisans can benefit to improve your economy. Examples may include roads and pavements constructions and improvements, petrol chemical products, plastic wares etc. the list can go on and on.

saudis are flooding the market with oil to cause problems for other producers like USA, Nigeria or Russia...When explorers in USA are forced from business then the saudis will raise prices extremely!

It is not in new infrastructure. The previous Government did the same. Oh, I forgot. It is still the same bureaucrats running the show, just different leaders running the circus!

protest and don't buy from a different oil marketer each week and you will force them to lower the price or loose money if they have no customers that people buy elsewhere
