Making the various research institutions in the country relevant to agriculture in the country is the only way to boost production in the country. There must a a strong and relevant link between the Universities and what is needed in boosting agriculture inthe country. An example is the work of the cocoa research inatitute's activities regarding how cocoa farming is conducted in the country. The diseases, and cultivars of cocoa need to be researched and findings made relevant to the farmers of the particular product being farmed. Its sad to see that even cocoyam and plantian cost more than suasages in the country. We don't need space science, just the basic sciences to control pests and improve cultivars of common Ghanaian or tropical food crops, Mr. President.
