Even if Kuffour is importing anything to the tune of $400M, that would MORE THAN PUT FOLKS TO WORK (create employment).
While I wouldn't want to make any comparisons, it suffices to say that President Rawlings has been out of 'power' for a looooong time now. Do you know how much he still has? He still does what he did (lifestyle).

It is true our nation, Ghana, has not put in place proper checks and balances to 'monitor' our leaders, but hey, Man must live.

"Who are you fooling? I have no problem with Pres Kuffuor planting, have resting and marketing rice in Ghana. My problem is that Hippocrates should be called out in our body politics. Did Kuffour not jail Kwame Peprah, Ibrahim Adam, Sipa Yankey all because they have played a role in bringing modern rice production company into fruition in Ghana ?
My goodness now this same person who stopped and abandoned this mechanized rice farming and jailed officials because of his hatred for Rawlings and ewes is now doing what? Promoting rice production in Ghana? Please I want the mahama govt to be careful because Kuffour doesn't get into anything without ulterior motives.
His move to destroy the Aveyime rice project was not only political but financial. Do formers know that Kuffour brother was a leading rice and if the Aveyime project had been a success the money they pumped into his campaign would have been difficult to recoup.
Again is this not the same man who main rice an import free commodity thereby killing the industry. Now that the NDC boldly made the local profitable by placing import tax on it Kuffour as usual wants to take credit for something he has no role in. God will help him to be successful but he will pay dearly for all the cosmetic policies he undertook with his administration. For example, if he had maintained the duty on the rice imports two would have happened.
1) rice production in Ghana would have been profitable and would have naturally attracted the investments he says he is promoting.
2) Ghana would have saved the forex used in importing rice saved the cedi. Also the duty revenue could have been invested in the energy sector. There wouldn't have been dumsor dumsor.
NPP as wicked as they are known doesn't care if they they will kill you and demonize you and your family will even feel ashamed of relating to you yet they will be doing the same thing they accuse others.
Pres. Kuffour if you are sincerely keen on promoting local rice production why did you not include it in your failed psi programmes
After you left office you and your partners invested in cassava production and exportation.
Why don't you invest some of that money yourself rather this face saving ridiculous program you are trying to promote.

Ghanaian governments and administrators know the appropriate places to cultivate commercial rice farms but for political reasons they won't. Again look to Tono and Vea in the upper east region for commercial rice farming. Yes, governments have to build the big dams but in west mamprugu the land is large and abundant waiting for serious and intelligent farmers to commercially turn things around! Djan Baffour looks ok but I think he is too much of an academic and not practical. JAK also resist too many meetings because this is where the money is wasted. If the land has been acquired, they should go to the field and invite the stakeholders and the youth to partner the project by giving out blocks and institute competitiveness through rice agro training, inputs and rewards for delivering. The project looks laudable but should be devoid of too many technocrats they are simply a waste by themselves.

If JA Kufuor who was dead broke ( I mean penniless) before he became president of Ghana, and if in 5 years (after his 8 years presidency) he tells Ghanaians that his foundation is worth $400 millions, then we Ghanaians have every right to ask the man Kufuor to disclose the source of his foundation funding.

We have no questions to ask when people like Bill and Malinda Gates, Bill Clinton, and Warren Buffet disclose they have a foundation worth millions if not billion of dollars, but to say Kofi Diawuo Kufuor, who was as poor as the church has built a foundation worth over $400 million to undertake a massive rice project that would end our country's reliance on imported rice begs the question. But as usual, the Ghanaian simpletons are applauding this rogue who is making every dubious effort to recycle his loot back into the economy.

The Ghanaian media is so corrupt and gullible it is not funny. Why not ask questions to help their readership understand the objective of thief Kufuor's foundation and the source of funding. When you go to the site of Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, they tell you who funds the foundation, Bill Clinton foundation ditto, and Warren Buffet ditto. So the question is: who is funding Kufuor's foundation?
