  After reading Ghana Gas's statement, I am convinced that Ghana Gas and the Ministry of Finance has questions to answer in relation to the cost of the project. We were told that the interest on the CDB loan is 2.85% plus LIBOR over 10 yrs with 3 yrs Moratorium. At this interest rate and given that the amount disbursed so far is 728million, it is hard to believe that the interest on the project is 300 million. Perhaps we need a thorough financial audit of the project to ascertain the actual cost of the project. Because, Ghana Gas at one time said the project will cost 750million.

  Contrary to belief from some quarters that the cost of constructing Ghana Gas plant has been overblown - insinuating money has gone into officials' pockets - the $728 million spent to construct the plant and brought it on stream is, to all intents and purposes, a great value for money. We must congratulate Ghana Gas Company for job well done.

  In spite of all these, Yentie Obiaa government will not reduce the cost of electricity for the benefit of Ghanaians because they don't care. Mahama-led government is so useless.
