The prison sentence served for which they were given the accolade "The Big Six" was before Ghana gained independence. What you're talking about are events that took place after the great Nkrumah, who is also a member of the big six, declared Ghana to be a one party communist republic.
You are talking about the letter written in prison by J. B. Danquah (The Doyen of African Politics) to his 3rd former wife Mabel Dove, a half Sierra Leonean half Ga woman, requesting for his drugs and money just before he passed away in jail.
Danquah, William and Nkrumah were misunderstood but that does not take their greatness away from them; for they fought for and conceived of a prosperous Ghana governed by native Ghanaians. Their attempts were resisted by the British colonial administration.
Nkrumah wanted a United States of Africa or a Union of African Socialist Republics but Danquah did not understand socialism and did not agree to a dictatorship but wanted a federal multiparty Ghana with freedom which would later unite with other free african states.
Would Soviet Union and Yugoslavia have provided Ghana with a better assistance than Britain and America??
The CIA and MI6s motives.........

You see the AGI is also very useless in addressing the power issue affecting its members. Yes, we can't trust government but what about your own common sense? I said it before that AGI should have called for one week exhibition of renewable energy companies from europe and else where to demonstrate various options available for it members to choose from. Atleast they could afford solar technology that will allow them to work during the day to save them storage units. But the leadership is intellectually bankrupt as government.
