It is better to raise capital to set up a company which will produce electricity with solar panels in an like the north or better still the Afram plains . From look of things it hasn't occured to the little minds at the top. The modern way of producing eletricity is the usage of the sun which doesn't cost a thing.
Is it so difficult to know that we can't afford a coal run power plant and the cheapest way around it is solar. Or these few want their own plane to bring their drugs to europe.

Your government (and i use "your" cuz at this point identifying myself as a ghanaian is almost asinine)and your leaders don't understand the concept that they plan to propose so hopefully somebody can print this out and give it to them.
first of all a national airline is the last thing you need cuz you don't have the infrastructure and resources necessary to run an airliner at the highest level. your power supply in the country is erratic and sad. in order to create a airport hub that attracts various airliners to use your airport as a transition point or final destination requires that you be able to handle the air traffic that comes with and that means that you need a bigger airport. Dubai just became the busiest airport in the world for international traffic and they did this by reinventing themselves. Dubai airport 20 years ago was a dust field with a crappy terminal at best so there was no way in hell they were going to attract the top airliners. so in order to appeal to the 5 star airliners, DUBAI built a new terminal with state of the art technology and one can argue that dubai has the best looking airport in the world.the new terminal along with better infrastructure (hotels, tourist attraction and relaxed rules)turned dubai into an international hub and now almost every airline flies into dubai airport. so if ghana wants to become a hub, can someone explain to me how you do that with a dingy airport that can barely hold 5,000 people at a time along with erratic power supply? the answer is it can't be done so the government needs to focus of putting better infrastructure in place ie. building a bigger and better airport. by elevating your infrastructure, you appeal to bigger and better airliners and then you have a chance to become a main airline hub in africa. that applies to air traffic control as well, an unstable power supply makes your air traffic control useless and the last thing you want is for your control tower to lose power while in operation cuz airplanes will be flying blind and that is disaster waiting to happen.
secondly, this goes to any private sector that wants to invest in this airliner, either the name Ghana out of the company name or make sure that the name is privatized and a stand alone entity. the name Ghana means that the nation as a whole can lay claim to the airline and this might happen if the private sector makes this airline successful and the government decides it wants to take over, as long as the name Ghana is associated with the company, the government can take over. besides that, your corrupt and free loading politicians will turn the airline into a taxi cab for their families and friends and we all know how that has worked out already.
in conclusion, don't start an airline when your infrastructure and resources are crippling and dwindling, upgrade your infrastructure and then you can think about starting an airliner.

The need is there....those flying direct from UK only has BA to choose from, so it's an issue of feasibility and choosing the correct (private)management framework with NO government involvement.

So, do you believe cost to government is ZERO?
Do you believe that when Mrs. Apenteng stands up there talking about the "project" and spends time on it, and other officials do the same, that they are not getting paid, that they are not receiving taxpayer money, that all of that is funded by private interests?

There is no place in the world where "GOVERNMENT INCENTIVE" has no monetary value, (i.e., does not cost taxpayers money). That is not what economic theory says, even in a "Finance" class.
Even your time spent on this stupid idea is a cost burden to taxpayers, unless you do not take a salary or receive any "incentives"/benefits from the taxpayers, or the government.
So, be careful what you are being setup to communicate!
It all make mighty little sense!
