Why are you blaming the banks? Their prime duty is to their shareholders - to maximise profits. If the govt's concerned about their dependence on T bills, then govt should stop borrowing from them

Idiotic idea-bankrupt crop of managers who are never willing to try anything new and gake risks. All they know is sabotaging. Otherwise, why would that stupid bank of Ghana suspend the operations of DKM, a financial institution minimising the economic hardship of a huge chunk of people in those poor areas of the Brong Ahafo and Northern part of Ghana? That's the reason why Ghana would never develop. Lazy idiots who refuse to think outside the box...

Veep has just put a nail on the head of banks activities.
There's no communication between their customers with a simple bank statement which will remind them to save .

Shareholders owned banks are there to make a profit not to be developing the country so to ask them to voluntarily take more risk when the can take less risk and make the same mond belief. The whole point of ahaving a government and not banks leading the country is so that they can take the leadership where issues require leadership. If you want them to move in a certain direction why do not you legislate for the good of the country

I expressed similar sentiments in response to an earlier comment, before I read yours. I'm surprised by the number of commentators who agree with the Veep. Don't they realise the problem lies with govt, not banks?

Certainly your incompetent Mahama did.

I wonder who the VP is complaining to. Like individuals, you don't leave banks, as fiduciaries, to do what is most comfortable and what is most profitable to them. This is why we have a Central Bank. Does any reader remember that I suggested last week in this forum that the BOG should, by regulation, (have) put a cap on the amount of funds that they invest in T-Bills. And I gave so many reasons I can't repeat here. I wonder what the BOG does by way of regulating financial institutions in Ghana. Left on their own banks will always invest in what is most profitable or safest - or both. It will take the Central Bank and regulations to achieve economic growth in the private sector and bank profitability. These are not mutually exclusive. As a start, somebody should sack both the Finance Minister and the governor of the Central Bank.

Why should the bank sticks to just one investment opportunity.
Have a look off other investment ithat is made available to their customers per say which is regulated by the banks themselves none
