I have no numbers for private sector growth under Kuffour. What I remember is, his time was a period when I witnessed so many Ghanaian professionals abroad moving back home and creating a lot of economic value in the country;not the other way around. I also remember a lot of foreign capital influx to Ghana. I also remember a relatively stable currency. Not to argue that he was the best, but these things I have mentioned are a few most leaders in Ghana cannot boast of. So kudos is in the right direction I suppose. One more thing, the attitude of discarding wisdom because it is not come from the guy you want to hear from is an ingredient for backwardness and deprivation of sustainable development efforts. All countries including the most developed pursue the same agenda he is preaching. Again I do not mean to argue but just give my comment. Thank you!

So why will the cedi stabilise if we continue importing virtually everything into the country? I wonder why president did not show interest in the Quality Grain Rice Project at Aveyime after jailing Kwame Pepra and Co. He failed to transform the economy when he was given the opportunity to govern this country. Anyway, his advice, even though known to SHS student is good and should be seriously considered by government. It's a shame politics have fantastic ideas only when in opposition. God save my motherland!

Ghana politics is a pure ideological mind set of saboteurs that hinders others in progressing to do effective business. You never gain dividend , profits, success if you sabotage other people business. That is the main super biggest mental problem in Ghana. Civil service or government workers at the helm of government offices will always dominate the private sector to share their finance so the later wile be afraid to continue. Failure to pay bribery to customs, airport officials, worst of all at the Tema harbour ports is a recipe to catastrophe. I will not be surprise to witness a ONE dollar to a 20 Cedi in the next 2 to 3 years. Because of our inward jealousy to see the success of other ethnicity, political affiliation, church or religious member or bribery to government official.

I also noticed a little bit of defect in regard to articulating the reasons. I however considered it minor because the core of the message did not lose its intended meaning. If it was an academic paper critique, then I would have commented on that . One thing I have learned being in the academia and living real world experience is that, some times we in the academia spend too much time on theory than dealing with practical situations. I remember not too long ago, a few decades maybe, when an invention of fufu -pounding machine at University of Science and Tech was a big deal in Daily Graphic. Then a few years later I asked myself, is that all the articulate intellectuals in Ghana could produce? Being articulate would no doubt authenticate the ex president's experience but in all fairness, we are all reading a secondary publication, which of course could distort from the original message to some degree. To end my comment, I would urge Ghanaians not to get themselves caught up in trivia and focus on priorities to help our nation move forward.

Kufuor does not know anything that would help Ghana.
How can we rely on the private sector to create jobs when people in that sector remain "dependent" on largesse from the state for their survival?

Unfortunately, in order to clam down illicit drug exports, certain regulations have been put in place which are frustrating exports.
For example scanning of export containers which is done in the same line with import containers - the time and the extra money involved
