If they are paying 22%-25% on a 91-day bond as they are doing, no sane investor will like to invest in Ghana. Such bonds are classified as junk bonds.

The issuer of a junk bond pays high interest rates on the bond because the issuer has bad credit ratings. The probability of default on such issue is extremely high. Investors usually shy away from such debtors.

Rawlings had the endurance but also a little clueless on economic policies so some of his people stole and mismanaged as well. Please vote the current government out. Whichever party wins should see this from Ghanaians as a stern warning that Ghanaians will not tolerate a visionless leadership. You screw up, we the people kick you out. you misappropriate state funds, you will cough it out. No more time for non-nonsense. Ghanaians are much smarter than settling for mediocrity. Lets face it Ghana continually dependent on High loan from the IMF,world bank might worsen the situation. Imagine China turned down Ghana quest for soft loan,and that show how bad the situation. Over the years China helping developng country in soft loan to develop her infrastructure,and other projects but denied Ghana show the pathetic financial situation in the country. Cedis worthless than toilet papers,and Inflation is very high and interest rate very ridiculous.The General election coming up next year putting more pressure on the economy. Ghana government should start to looking inward than out ward to financing her capital projects and stop fantasy as claiming Ghana the Gate to Africa not even west Africa.Even some war turn country of Ivory coast , sierra leone economy, Liberia is doing much much better and healthier.The time had come Ghana Government should face the reality of life and double her effort to change the dwindling state of her pathetic poor state economy

The country is sufferring because of the leadership and you want people to respect incompetent leaders and a president who has sat on his hands smiling like an idiot. The government know what it needs to do concerning fiscal management and cutting costs and streamlining the public sector but are afraid because of political fall out.

So they would rather use smoke and mirrors hope that they can borrow to keep going and that somehow next year everyone will forget or dumsor will be resolved so that they can trumpet how they have moved forward. Ghanaians need to make up their minds because the country is sinking without a change in mentality and leadershio.
