  Tuskegee University in the US started working on the Orange and purple-flesh Sweetpotato in Ghana for over 15 years. The scientists worked collaboratively with FRI, CRI, SARI and UDS and introduced several orange and purple flesh varieties as well as developed several food products to include complementary baby foods and bread(Shika VitaBread)from the root; and the sweetpotato leaves which can be substituted for traditional leaves in Ghanaian dishes.We are glad that these efforts are taking roots in Ghana to help alleviate micro-nutrient deficiencies specifically in children and women. We do hope that Ghanaian investors seize the opportunity to assist the farmers with funding to increase the orange and purple sweetpotato production and consumption.

  The largest problem for farming in Ghana, is that you start farming yourself by working hard 6 days a week for 8 - 10 hours a day and grow your company.
  When you do that you will create growth by your self in a few years without banks.
  SO hard and consistent working is the key.
  I live in a farming area, 90% of the farmers start by 8 then start eating, work a little fall asleep, start preparing lunch, sleep at the hottest time of the day, work a little after that and go home by 4.
  That's not farming, I have been working on my grandfathers farm 10 hours a day with 30 minutes break and we always made money.
  GHANA needs to change its mentality to work instead of complaining that (hardworking)foreigners steal our jobs.
  They take our jobs because of our lack of creativity, work attitude and laziness.
