  The Ghana Revenue Authority should not impose a blanket 5% VAT on all houses purchased in Ghana otherwise those in the low income bracket cannot afford to buy their own houses.The VAT must be imposed on houses above a certain price level- from 100 000.00 dollars and above.

  we have property, school tax, state & federal income tax plus Sales tax not VAT

  5-8% is what most USA states have! Florida, Nevada & Nashville Tenn have no state income tax because tourist pay all tax on hotels,rental cars..

  Tekper cannot see beyond his next step. He only thinks of a small peck of the moment. This is exactly what he did to Forex and FC accounts at the beginning of the year and most FC accounts holders ceased transferring moneys to Ghana. It took him more than three months to reverse the decision by which time the harm had permanently been done. Ghanaians and companies who were transferring monies from their foreign banks to Ghana and not necessarily for immediate use stopped. I know many individuals and companies that stopped even to today. The dollar became short in supply. That is one of the major causes of the cedi depreciating as if it is falling. it is exactly what he is doing here. Surely this will also be reversed by which time the damage become s irreversible. Globally when the GDP drops what all governments do is to lower interest rates except in Ghana. Tekper and Wampah rather increase interest rates during such times thinking they will get more money. Instead people and companies stop borrowing and we come back to step zero. Wherever thia Tekper and Wampah learnt their economics only Gpd knows. They are lucky in the government of a fool who knows nothing except chasing women and making unachievable promises.
