  Generally informative, crystal clear and devoid of any of the low intellect political point scoring bitchy twaddle that so frequently besmirches and obfuscates news items on this subject.
  
  Let’s hope that any subsequent Readers’ Submissions follow in the same vein.
  
  Just one alarm bell rings however vis-à-vis the comment attributed to Kremer that ‘once the Ghanaian side fulfils its contractual obligations there will be no cause for concern regarding power generation’.
  
  Just what exactly does that mean? Is there an unseen potential ‘spanner in the works’ lurking ‘below the radar’ that could emerge to wreck the whole enterprise due to some failure by the Ghanaian side to 'step up to the plate’?
  
  Explanation please!

  if you are sharp enough you would have known that there are institutions that are responsible for the well being of Ghana's environment so your question should have been directed to these institutions to check whether the due diligence had been done before allowing the Karpower to be docked in the Ghana waters

  The spiteful comments by ‘sir john’ and ‘Pliolo’ directed toward kwame epitomise what is so badly wrong with societies such as that within Ghana, when someone asking a perfectly rational and quite legitimate question is so brutally and unnecessarily slapped down and insulted in this manner.
  
  A reasonably intelligent person would understand that the crux of kwame’s query concerns the scale of any deleterious effect upon the environment brought about by the operation of the Aysegul Sultan power generating barge. What is so wrong with that question? It is a valid query and indeed is one of significant public interest.
  
  The fact that Kwame has ventured to ask it of Karpower instead of some other agency is ‘neither here nor there’.
  
  Commenters who react so negatively without any positive contribution on their own part are indicative of the Bully Boy attitudes that stifle the essential natural curiosity vital for advancing the natural progression of edification so essential if ever Ghana is to emerge from the ‘dark ages’ culture that it currently wallows in.

  And who says heavy oils bought from that crooked company, Trafigura, will be cheaper than natural gas from Aboadze or Nigeria? Doubtful in a corrupt nation in which highly-placed public officials routinely take secret kickbacks in such contracts.
  
  Sadly, we adopt the same unhelpful attitude in boasting about GDP growth figures, without actually examining what constitutes that growth.
  
  The millions made from galamsey contributes to Ghana's GDP, for example - but at what cost to society: in terms of the poisoning of soils, rivers and water bodies across vast swathes of the Ghanaian countryside?
  
  This being Ghana, nothing will be done about the polutants (ash and sulfur?) emitted by the Karpowership's generators - and it will ruin the health of workers and those living close by it: who will probably suffer from chronic respiratory ailments for yonks, and probably be eventually killed by that over time. Pity. Hmm, Ghana - eyeasem o!
