You only have to go to Tema Harbor to see for yourself what goes on. Ironically, the most corrupt people are no more the Customs Officers but the so-called National security men Atta Mills put at he gates. They have fixed their owns "bribe rates" at GHC200 per vehicle that goes out of the harbor. Check this out for yourself.

This will continue to drop until our leaders revise our import duties, funny how much one has to pay to clears lets say a car from our port mean while we don't have a car producing company in Ghana. Its true we need to protect our companies but lets try and be much more factual. Countries like Togo are making enormous cash out of import duties even though they have free port. Our leaders must help us.

its unfortunate that our import duties are too high why 10 per cent duties on imported vehicles it means the government of the day is not prepared to let the individual ghanaian to gain so with the high import duties the custom officers charge the importers and pocket the money so reduce the import duty to 1 per cent to encourage imports

NDC is just a joke as a political party. They get things wrong all the time. During AFRC/P-NDC era the have always thought imposing high levies or taxes on goods imported into the country. One needs not to be a rocket scientist to understand economic laws and fundamentals. Ghanaians are suffering as a result of economic mismanagement. These are the reasons why I always say that John Mahama and his corrupt NDC govt are clueless and incompetent and must be voted out of power. NDC is Sasabonsam party and Ghanaians should vote them out in the November 7 elections.
