It is not a matter of resourcing the Audit Committees. It is a matter of greed and integrity. Most Ghanaians are very greedy and corrupt. About 98% of fraudulent activities are perpetrated by the well placed people in society. You resource them and they embark on more corrupt activities. The control mechanisms put in place at the organisations must be made to work. Look at the Smartys issues and the busses rebranding. The Public Procurement Act 663, was not followed. Are you telling me that the authorities did not know? They were all involved in that fraudulent Act. Now that we know that the Act was not followed what have we done? This is the crux of the matter and not a matter of resourcing! Anyone who reneged on his duty in connection with the rebranding must be prosecuted and jailed.

Yes the human factor is important in every office but the structure and processes must also be looked at. Same about the logistics. Just like the creation story in the Bible when all these resources are made available and the human attitude will not change for the best sanctions should apply. When the resources are not there the incidence of greed and corruption would be going higher and higher. This is more serious when you relate it to the one who must apply the sanctions. How about that?
