  Why shut down instead of a by pass to service areas that needs maintainance? Only in Ghana is such a thing acceptable?

  GNPC and Ghana Gas need to put in place synchronized joint maintenance schedules for the FPSO and Gas Plant so as to eliminate down-times to the two facilities when one is being worked on.

  GNPC and Ghana Gas need to put in place synchronized joint maintenance schedules for the FPSO and Gas Plant so as to eliminate down-times to the two facilities when one is being worked on.
  
  In mid-January 2016, the Gas Plant was closed for maintenance. This implied gas from the oilfield had to be flared resulting in lost revenue and environmental pollution as well.
  
  With the FPSO being closed, it implies the the Gas plant will be dormant as there will be no oil drilling with its associated gas feed to the gas plant.
  
  Syncing and tandem maintenance of the 2 facilities at the same time will eliminate redundancy of the other unscheduled facility.

  Key components, the maintenance of which will result in prolonged shut down of the FPSO must have spares on board. So when maintenance is due, the entire component is removed and immediately replaced by another which will be serviced prior to the next maintenance schedule. Using JIT principles, this exchange can take place in less than a day, possibly in less than 6 hours.
