  Who is doing the listening of this problem and what are the arguments for keeping this tax if from figures so far available the impact is negative.We all agreed that revenue from taxation is key but sometimes it seems our tax policies recently are not only myopic but are doing more harm than good.

  They do this with the blind side that, if we they put high fees charge, we cannot pay and eventually, they will cease the cars and sell it cheap ,less than what they were asking the owners to pay to members of his govt and party .the right thing must be done

  Perhaps, all they have ever heard (not that they know it) in economics is taxation. So we have increases in taxes and duties of all sorts. The target seems to be those living outside the country. Tax increase on imports (particularly cars) and even telephone calls, It is the increase in telephone calls that makes the SIMbox attractive. Ghana has one of the highest prices of fuel in the world, the highest call rates and yet the poorest services, roads, energy, water and all types of utilities. What stupidity!

Jokers who are wasting our limited resources to put up useless airports for political rather than economic expedience for an infantile air industry which is obviously going no where! Sensible, my Country folks, to vote with your pocket and go by the luxury comfortable buses instead of the expensive uncomfortable turbulence tossed about aircraft services!! I said it before, these so called airports will only end up being used for flying kites and autogyros for fun only, Prez Mahama and Co!!!

  Our leaders always often go to Dubai, but have they ever inquired about the secret of their success? Dubai became successful as trading crossroad allowing businesses to flourish on very low customs duty (maximum of 5%), no business tax and no personal income tax. Government revenues are earned on high volume of imports and re-export trade but not on exorbitant taxes and levies which kills business. Dubai, unlike Abu Dhabi, hardly has oil or gas. The Emirate of Dubai has traditionally thrived on trade in goods and services with business- friendly open door policies which creates employment and considerable wealth for its people.and residents alike. Perhaps, if we open our mind we could learn from them.

  Believe me, any honest accountant will tell you that he/she is not trained to run a business not to talk about running key Ministries in the country. Accountants are trained to keep financial records of an entity and do not have the skills for strategic planning. At times, their narrow training in looking at figures make them believe that short term high revenues are good for an entity. No, Sir, and not at all in most cases, and this is the situation Ghana finds itself in at the moment where the Finance Minister has caused businesses to be taxed and levied to the hilt and to the point of businesses collapsing. Such a situation in the long run would considerably reduce the country's tax base with a resulting massive reduction in total tax revenues. Ghana should adopt the Dubai approach of low tax rate, open door business policies, high volume of good and service trade, high level of employment which all together would generate high and sustainable revenues for the government.

  When Fiifi Kwetey was minister in charge of financial and allied services, he connived with Woyome, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Barton Oduro etc to loot state coffers through dubious judgment debts payments to Woyome, Isofoton, Waterville, CP etc. He was later moved to be minister of agriculture. He has collapsed agriculture in Ghana. Ghana production has been falling continually. Now he is minister of transport. He will collapse the transport sector in Ghana. He is the best economist in the NDC, he has extensive experience because he has been minister in 3 different ministries and he has been collapsing those ministries when he becomes the minister.
