  You seem to think ID Cards are a solution to all our problems. There is no evidence that Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso etc are more advanced or effective in collecting taxes because they have the "French Imposed" Car ...

  You seem to think ID Cards are a solution to all our problems. There is no evidence that Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso etc are more advanced or effective in collecting taxes because they have the "French Imposed" Carte d Identite" than Ghana.
  
  Secondly, ID cards does not prevent crime or bombing as you have witnessed in France,Belgium etc.
  
  We should concentrate on graft and corruption and tax avoidance by those who keep robbing the poor. Ghost names on government payrolls cost us more than telling my cocoa farming parents to "fork out" 200=300 cedis for some stupid ID CARD.
  
  Even when we at the bottom pay our taxes,the rich sons of Kofi Annan and Kufour manage to escape by opening bank accounts in some outlandish places such as Panama or Nuie island just to avoid tax.

  I also support the concept of broadening the tax net, by involving the informal sector, as it would reduce the tax liability of businesses and there by leading to their expansion.

  why will you want to pay your taxes to a bunch of bureaucrats whose offices are a bunch of corrupt criminal institution set up on the grounds that they have a skill that has no positive productivity to the nation? look at the payroll and its productivity.
