  Small things first not tractors. Concentrate on small holders and then you can enlarge it. Concentrate on markets for produce to attract people into farming.

  @Marquis. You write like someone knowledgeable in agric policy, especially for developing countries. Yes, it's right to focus on small holders and later scale the project. Next, markets must be the focus of any program to boost production. There must be better studies of the markets and promotion tools used to expand them as large as possible. otherwise, we are going to have our markets flooded with foreign foods while recipients of agric subsidies spend their portions on non-agric related luxury goods!

  Rwanda's Youth Engagement in Agriculture Network-Rwanda (YEAN) and "Farming is Cool" initiatives are worthy of emulation. They have been used to attract the youth to agriculture. Impressive results! Go learn from them!
