You guys criticising the coal project are very ignorant of what is happening on international scale. Follow what India and other major developing nations said and will do with coal. No developing nation can develop and meet its energy needs without coal. After America, UK, etc used coal for centuries and still do, they want to dictate to Africans, India, China etc. are Ghanaians prepared to pay for green energy? Come to UK and see how people are resisting green tax from the European Union. Without coal Ghanaians will pay ten times for electricity. Relative cheap energy is what we need, no one can dictate to us while they use it. In America if the Republican Party wins, they will scrap a lot of obama's green policies, they make things expensive, esp for industry. We need more coal projects. And who say we don't have technology for clean coal. Ignorance, stupidity and political partyism is what is wrong with Ghana.

When India burns its cold, the smoth together with the coal and its impurities, the dusts, shoots up in the sky, unfortunately, there are no containers over there to collect the dusts. It spreads, thus finding its way into our lungs, rivers, the fields and wherever there's a space.
It is our responsibility to push back against India and other polluters, and remember, it is our bodies been violated!

Seriously proposing construction of a coal power plant in the 21st century is the surest way of attracting international ridicule and condemnation.

The Sun shines daily in Ghana, govt needs to remove all forms of taxes on Solar and let individuals who can afford it get it, this will reduce pressure on other forms and make more power available for industries.

In the USA, the heart of the Coal industry from West Virginia to Kentucky, is moving away from Coal. What about all the new technology in wind, and solar? There's increasing use of solar energy in the USA. There are people I know who have reduced the cost of residential power use to negligible levels by switching to solar.
Solar and wind generated power are at nascent level in Ghana. The Gvt must incentivize this fledgling industry instead of blindly submitting to outdated, and environmentally harmful coal industry. Has the government even accounted for the projected exponential health cost as a result of the harmful chemicals that would be emitted from the coal industry?
Has the government given consideration to the impact on agric, and general well being of Ghanaians?

Nduom, insults dont resolve issues. Advance cogent arguements as to why you think coal is bad. If you care to know, the old coal plants are being decommissioned because there are more advanced technologies of coal plants. Read about the supercritical and ultracritical clean coal technologies. You will also learn about the benefits of using that form of coal.
