  Not that assumption. All the contracts signed were very expensive for reasons known to the government alone. They have their cuts in it that's why everything is expensive.

  Most of you just jump agog at any bogus news without analytical thinking whatsoever, huh? Oil and gas are abundantly cheap across the board. So, the question now is, why must Ghana gas be any difference in price against all the rest in her league. That single fact, should set the alarm bells ringing in your head that this is simply a fictitious story coming from no other than the haters of progress, full stop.

  While its true that deepwater oil drilling is expensive, this normally does not affect the gas price because the gas is associated with all the investment geared heavily towards the crude oil. that why the Jubilee partners have juicy deals on the crude oil revenues. Currently the first 200BCF of the gas is free to Ghana. This would take about 7-8yrs to consume at our current consumption rate. The gas buildup price is available from PURC website. mostly levies heaped on the commodity causing it to be more expensive than its Nigerian counterpart.

  Let us look at issues objectively else we deceive ourselves. Nigeria produces more gas and had made infrastructure investment long ago perhaps at a cheaper cost. Therefore their fixed cost per unit may be a fraction of Ghana Gas.
  Not holding brief for Ghana Gas however, they must be smart to achieve low cost of production and that is how effective managers are measured.

Ghana government on the other hand bought 10 of those turbines for $520 million. Which means we bought each of the same turbines for $52 million.why won't light bills be expensive in Ghana. Mahama must go.

  It is very simple why Ghana Gas is more expensive. Ghana gas comes from their first gas field in 1000m of water. The machines that drill and produce gas in 1000m of water costs $100 million dollars. The Nigeria gas is in the swamp or 20' of water and the machines that drill and produce gas in that depth of water are $500,000..
  So Ghanaians have to pay for renting the expensive machines to get Gas from the sea offshore Ghana

  I think what he's trying to say is that gas production in deep sea waters is more costly than doing so in shallow, swampy areas. I kind of agree with him. The ENI Gas will even be more expensive. It will be going for approx $9.8/MMBtu because gas processing will be done offshore in addition to the cost if gas production.

  Saudi Arabia's defiant stance to continue flooding the market with crude has almost collapsed United States' shale oil production. US closed most of their oil rigs in the mid 1960's and depended on Saudi.
  
  As a result, Saudi's oil rigs have been active for more than 50 years. So their Unit cost to produce per a barrel of oil is about 10% of that of the U.S. As we speak, Wells Fargo Bank has incurred heavy losses as a result of extending loans to newly established U.S. Oil Companies.
  
  And, I believe the same may apply between Nigeria and Ghana - Nigeria's oil has been around since 1958 compared to Ghana's 2006 oil debut.

  Why write such rubbish. Sometimes l wonder what sort school these writers trained at. Of course, l don't expect GH gas to be cheaper....one need to consider the costs associated with developing the oil fields, and the gas processing plant, in addition to the other infrastructure to deliver the gas (eg. Pipelines). For the industry to thrive, the product has to be priced right. ...Remember this industry was non existent a few years ago. You borrowed (bcos you don't have the money) to develop this product by predominantly foreign personnel (since you did not have the local expertise)...and all things being the same you expect your product to be cheaper or same price as those who've been producing same product for decades, probably without debts, and abundant expertise? ...makes nonsense of the notion of economies of scale, efficiency from experience, institutional learning, servicing debts amongst others

I also read this article and realised that this journalist doesn't know what he's talking about. First of all the gas we get from the Jubilee Fiels is RAW GAS (unprocessed) and NOT LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) as we are made to believe. The RAW GAS is in its gaseous state, whereas the LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS is processed gas that has been liquefied (turned to liquid) in a LIQUEFACTION PLANT, which we clearly do not have in Ghana.

  G gets out the trail does not lead to them but one day Saudi , Oman , South Africa panama Mauritius and Bahrain will fall out and release details of their bank accounts ....just need one little fish to come out and huh got them , but everyone is at it so ?
