Unfortunately Ivory Coast is supporting the EPA, not rejecting it and has ratified its interim Eeuros PA. The annual losses of import duties and VAT in 2035 would be of 4.5 billion euros for the whole West Africa, of which of 367 million for Ghana and the cumulative losses of 46.6 billion for West Africa and 4 billion for Ghana.

although i dont think there should have been influence from America on this issue (because they have vested interests on global trade already), but I do agree that Ghana should have ever embarked on this EPA because it was never right in the first place. We were forced and cajoled by ndc to sign up for it just so EU could sell more to us than they would allow or sell our goods to them. On top of that, Africa is not a member of EU, but within the EPA, the EU has marked African countries as members because of trade. If that's the case, why not just have free trade and focus on that, without getting countries to sign trade blocs? America is not clean on that either. That said, this whole thing is just interesting because one way or another you have to sign up for a trade bloc. As such the european trade bloc has to be amended such that it doesn't filter out trade with other countries.The EpA then becomes workable to those European countries. The French already have theirs with French speaking African countries. The Chinese will have theirs also, and now America wants a cut even though the don't really need it. The name of the game is Give me Sole rights.
Never has africa been so carved up on a plate by developed countries and all because they want new cheap markets.
