It is because cars with old registered year dates loses much value when ready to resold by owner. Basically say you register a 2012 model car in 2012, by now a new owner will assume you have driven the car in Ghana for 5 year ...

It is because cars with old registered year dates loses much value when ready to resold by owner. Basically say you register a 2012 model car in 2012, by now a new owner will assume you have driven the car in Ghana for 5 years which will devalue it because normally cars driven on Ghana roads get in bad conditions quicker than where it was manufactured. But a 2012 model registered in 2017 will sell better because it hasn't been driven long. It's stupid but seems no other solution. My thing is when you buy a car the value should be based on miles/km driven and condition it is in as far as look and mechanical status. Ghana is backwards

Forgot to add that unfortunately most Ghanaian car buyers don't know shit about mileage or testing cars before buy because of literacy. They use car plate that's all lol
