I for one out of patriotism will not encourage such nonsense again by patronising a new national airline like i did with Ghana Airways, which was my once upon a time excellent until these bastards killed it off.

The NPP administration of Kufuor deliberately bankrupted Ghana Airways through the shameless corruption of then Minister of Transport Anane, who the whole world knows stole from the airlines coffers to pay child support to his US mistress. Then Kufuor administration went beserk feeding like vultures on the extensive properties of Ghana Airways. Even real estate acquired in the 50s and 60s by the Nkrumah government for Ghana Airways in various West African countries were sold off! Following this was the 2nd scam, launching the so-called Ghana International Airlines with their Mormon crooked partners. A bogus airline that flew the totally unfeasible itinerary of Accra-Barbados and ended up causing financial loss to the state through the chartering of a foreign airline to repatriate the illegals ferried under the scam to Barbados. NPP has conveniently forgotten all this plus the terciary costs to the state of the legal and financial wrangling that occurred between Ghana International Airlines and its US Mormon partners during the dissolution of the bogus airline.

NPP, please spare the nation and stay out of the airline business!!! NO MORE AIRLINE SCAMS!

National airline for the sake of national pride is a misplaced priority. The Aviation Minister designate should concentrate on policies which would attract more airlines to Ghana such as open sky policy, development of an ultramodern airport and facilities, competitive pricing of civil aviation and airport services. Any consideration for a national carrier should come later after Ghana is establishes itself as an international aviation hub. The Minister should use the successes of Emirates Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Air Arabia as case studies before embarking on any national airline scheme. Profit and employment for qualified Ghanaians should be the key objectives of establishing a national airline not national pride. Due to extensive capital required to start any credible international airline consideration should be given to private-public sector investment model.
