The government has a law for minimum capital requirement for retailers in the country but has granted a special waiver for Ghanaians. What is wrong with that? Therefore Ghanaian should learn to make reasonable profit and stop blaming foreigners. It is a shame that our politicians and law enforcement officials most of the time, turn to rather side with or protect a foreign businessman who is breaking the law instead of ensuring that a law is carried out. All that will continue to go on if our politicians, the courts and the police who are supposed to see to it that our laws are obeyed unfortunately turn to look the other way. And, unless they turn new leaf and change their corrupt behaviors no amount of speeches and entreaties won't do anything. The encroachment of our laws by foreigners that prohibit them from getting into retail businesses had been going on for far too long since Mahama administration. It is about time Nana and his administration step up and put the retail business into the hands of Ghanaians and not Chinese.

Having allowed our Politicians free range to loot us over and over again, and wrongly and crudely applying weird tweaking to Capitalism without the necessary Institutional checks and balances, here we go again finding a helpless scapegoat to blame.

It is the same old, stale, brittle cake of a policy that Osafo Marfo and his other xenophobic cohorts ill-advised Dr. Busia to implement in the late 60s and caused Nigerians to retaliate against us in the 80s that this man is re-introducing.

He has run out of any new, effective ideas to handle our modern Economy to generate sustained employment and growth. He is either most insensitive to what our Youths went through in Nigeria during the vengeful and deadly Agege repatriation exercise, or he simply is too senile and suffering from amnesia to remember.

Besides, we never saw any significant surge in our economic standing with the implementation of the Busia's Aliens Compliance Order that was a cover to deport Millions of immigrants doing productive work to add to our Economy.

Trading or Business, in general, has really never been the forte of most Ghanaians. And to think that these immigrants who have brought in their own capital to set up Businesses in the retail sector are to blame for our economic failures is as erroneous as we think calling our Democracy a "Property Owning" one adds any penny to our coffers. That tautological emphasis on property owning in our already-free Market Economy could only signal freedom to loot by the Politicians who championed that misnomer.

I am sure he was talking about the law regarding doing business in Ghana by foreigners. He made it clear in his piece what the law states( that foreigners could only do business with a certain capital). What is wrong with foreigners following the laws of Ghana? In the UK foreigners who want to invest and do business here can only do so with a certain amount of money stipulated in their law. Even highly skilled professionals such as Lecturers and Doctors whose services are needed and who want to work in a country like the UK must meet some conditions and criteria in line with UK immigration laws. For example they must have a job offer and the salary should start at least £35,000. We can not allow every tom dick and harry in our country in the name of free market. What is wrong with placing Ghanaians first? Can you enter China illegally and do galamsey and pollute their water? Please let us be more rational than emotional in our analysis, let us put aside our tribal differences and party affiliations aside and put Ghana first. Let us put our country first after all that is all we have. Thank You.
