Are you deaf to Big Pharma using its lobby power in Washington to speed up approval of not-ready drugs for the market? Where were you when COX-2 drugs like Celebrex was put on the market only to be withdrawn after several deaths?

And, don't get me started with Europe!

All countries are complicit in profiteering from disease and illness. Of course the poor and uneducated suffer the most.

Ten years on and the problem is still with us. Not to talk about vegetable farmers using water from gutters to irrigate their farms. Whaaat Gh.

I wrote about this a couple of years ago and a so-called Ghanaian Pharmacist lambasted me on GhanaWeb. Undeterred, I write again for our dear citizens. Most drugs from India and some from China are fake and this is because of the quality assurance details in America and most European countries. For Example, it takes about 13-15 years for new drugs to come on the market in America. Ghanaians have developed the fake drug Manufacturing system from India and China and this killing our people. People, buy your prescriptions from reputable drug stores in Ghana. My son-in-law is a pharmacist in Ghana and when I ran out medicine in Ghana, he is able to find me similar products in Ghana without a hassle. Look, fake drugs could be anywhere so be careful what you take.

What are the fake drugs they are talking about and how did they get the information, from the police or from the producers?. We don't even have power to watch television let alone produce drugs.Many of the fake drugs in Ghana are imported from outside the country.Our fear should rather be about the proliferation of HERBAL MEDICINE:- Validity of the claims of these medicine(efficacy), conditions under which they are produced and stored, the right dosage to be taken, expiration dates and side effects. Many illnesses are exacerbated by use of herbal medicines. The producers claim one herbal medicine can cure about 12 diseases. Government must have some kind of regulations in place to check the production and sale of herbal medicines.
