The figure is GH7.476 million (Seven point four, seven, six million cedis) In jurisdictions like South Africa, what was written would be correct, stated thus: Seven comma four, seven, six million cedis. The most important message being passed here is that the UP group, that is the NPP, is a group that claims to be democratic more than any other group, and yet flout all rules, regulations and laws to do anything they like, if only it will satisfy their greed and ego. Just check what is going on now in the public and even the Civil Service. This nonsense must be stopped if we are to build a strong, united and democratic country.

Any right thinking and experieced person knew the resignation was through political pressure and came with a price to pay. The Governor's position is constitutionally protected and cannot be fired like NADMO boss or toll collector by Invinsble Forces. There were negotians behind the scene which you and I are not privy to.

I strongly understand why some people objects the removal of the governor. The central bank stability signals monetary policy stability an indicator to all investors to unchanged monetary policies and their realisation. the issue is, if a governor is seen as full member of any political party. It become difficult for he or her TO KEEP his job WHEN THERE IS CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT. The independence of the central bank and it role from that of government could be debated time and again but we must acknowledge that by using monetary powers as observed by the central bank, their objective is to achieve the government target set not BY THEM (in all cases of the bank) but by the government of the day, in other words any divergence of policies or strategies by the central bank from government objectives and targets could see any governor at the door. Since, MAHAMA AND NDC, FAILED to select an independent governor with no political links, one must expect the governor to go under any new government particularly where he has observed to have political views. you can make clear distinction between selection process of governor of UK central bank or the FED....new government set their own monetary and fiscal policies, they determine direction of BOG targets hence, there is NO in-dependency as mentioned by the Article.
