  The lack of innovation in our banking system is why Ghanaians have low banking habits. Majority of Ghanaians are on social media, more have fons and many use mobile money. But most Ghanaians wouldn't put their money in the bank becos of the inconveniences. Ghanaian banks are only interested in giving loans and microfinance. If a loan is given to someone who already has a long lasting banking relationship there is a smaller chance of them defaulting. That's why so many banks in Ghana have bad loans and the central bank is not doing its work. This leaves room for the scams like what happened in Sunyani to happen. Don't u think if there was good banking in Ghana those customers will not put their money in the banks? Banks in Ghana don't have many branches, not many ATM machines so people don't have access to their money 24/7. In advanced countries people can use their money even without carrying it with moneyless transactions such as credit cards . If Ghanaian banks had mobile apps, customers could be at ease and check on their money every where, transfer money to their fons and use as mobile money etc

  when i was in Ghana i was ask for big sum to open an account....In USA credit unions, including ones owned by USA post office will open an account for $25...while Ghana banks want 100 dollars or cedi to open....that why bank ...

  when i was in Ghana i was ask for big sum to open an account....In USA credit unions, including ones owned by USA post office will open an account for $25...while Ghana banks want 100 dollars or cedi to open....that why bank have no customers..Most americans will flock to Ghana banks for their high interest rates..while USA banks pay 1% or less on savings

  The internet is not secure in Ghana. Anyone who relies on the internet for banking needs puts his or her finances and personal data into jeopardy. It has been said that hundreds of people have access to the email accounts of many in Ghana.
  
  Another point worth mentioning is that often many forget that the whole Ghana is not like Accra. Many reside in towns and villages that lack basic amenities. They often have to travel far for their banking needs.
