We just need 10 committed farmers to produce just 20,000 metric tonnes annually with the capacity to double and triple that to feed the sub-regional market and you are in business, across the whole chain, wheat bran, maize, fish, packaging, refrigerated transport/freight, storage, and that is how jobs are created.

We import 200000 metric tonnes of Chicken while Ghanaian Poultry farms struggle and go out of business. We cannot blame the government for this. Why do Ghanaians always prefer foreign made goods. The imported chicken come from Poultry farms who use highly questionable and unhealthy methods to artificially grow the size of the chicken in the shortest possible time. They use GMO grains and other product such as poultry meat to prepare the feed for their poultry, their birds are pumped full of cancer causing steriods to artificially fatten and ready them for market. The birds are then processed with cancer causing preservatives to prolong shelve lives. After this the birds are flash frozen and shipped, sometimes to several destinations before it gets to Ghana. Most of the Poultry products imported here have been frozen for over a year before it reaches a Habour in Ghana.Yet because of lack of information this is what Ghanaians prefer. Is this not an insult to our intelligence?

Even if each farmer employs 3 worker, that is 21,000 workers.
I believe this is achievable since it takes just 6 weeks to get that 1.5kgs of dressed weight.

First, the notion that the industry is suffering because of the 6 million Ghana cedis in question is false and seeks to mislead the intelligence of Ghanaians. The general feeling amongst farmers is that since you appointed yourself as the SOLE FINANCER of the broiler project it is no wonder the government halted the disbursement of the EDAIF amount. The EDAIF money would have gone to deserving parties who would have ensured the success of the program. Now, why would any Government use taxpayer’s money to fund a project when someone has appointed himself as the SOLE FINANCER of the project?
Boris B does not represent the entire poultry industry in Ghana and it is unfortunate that some members of the Poultry Farmers association are propagating this notion.
Second, the broiler revitalization project failed because proper and sound poultry practices were simply not practiced by the association and due diligence done on the part of Boris B. How can offtakers be expected to purchase when the cost of a produced bird is unrealistically high due to the high cost of production items supplied by the organizers to Outgrower farmers? And how can frozen chicken be transported in cargo trucks instead of the recommended refrigerated trucks and meet market standards?
Yes, there are challenges facing the industry but this issue with Boris B is not one of them. It will therefore be unwise on the part of this or any successive government of this country to use the tax payer's money to fund and support this bogus claim by Boris B. It is very unfortunate and ridiculous that the president and vice president of the poultry farmers association support the baseless claims of Mr. Baidoo and in so doing tarnishing the image of the industry!

Did the EDAIF money arrive for the project? If yes, where is the money? If no, then why are you attacking government? You never said the government asked you to give the money to the farmers to be reimbursed later. According to your story the farmers approached you and you saw wisdom in granting their request which you did. You also confirmed 300,000 birds were produced and you received the process from MOFA. You must tell the whole story but for now, I don't see how the government could be made to pay you for a loan you granted farmers on your own arrangement with the farmers.
