  There are many reasons why a total integration in West Africa will be detrimental to Ghana but i will focus on one here.The symbiotic relationship between France and her former colonies in WA does not end with just installing puppet leaders like Outarra in Ivory Coast or protecting the 40 year old dictatorship in Cameroon.France has established a common currency for her colonies which they strictly controll and manipulate
  to ensure that only French nationals and a handful of selected few Africans can amass enough wealth to be a serious challenge to their domination.It is not a coincidence that all the major companies and Plantations in those colonies are owned by French Nationals.No laws are passed in those countries without consultations and green light from Paris.And French nationals are demigods in these colonies where they live in affluence and power they could never have attained in France.No,we stand to lose more than our economy if we allow a total integration of West Africa.Our very identity,languages,traditions and independence as a nation will be diluted and eventually swept aside.France will never allow the various WA nations to independently chart a common course without secretly working behind the scenes to tip control in favour of one of their outpost nations which will automatically be in their hands.We need to concerntrate on seriously upgrading our manufacturing and Agric(Fisheries,animal&poultry too) capacity.We will be better off with carefully crafted bilateral trade agreements with other nations rather than allowing the French to gain unrestricted access to our nation through a West African Integration Trojan Horse.Once we are integrated they won't even have to pay port duties when they flood our markets with cheap good to drive our companies out of business.

  We have market right under our noses to elevate our poor status.
  We will travel to far, far away places to transact business, but right next to us is a diamond mine for prosperity.
