Is the president weak? The president is the ultimate source of executive power - law enforcement. Talking about exposure sounds like a whistleblower. Akufo Addo should not pay mere lip service to corruption as Rawlings did. Rawlings was the most corrupt political leader that Ghana has ever had. He went about shouting "probity, accountability, integrity" without building a single anti corruption institution. According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, an institution is a "lengthened shadow of man". What he means is that institutions survive an individual. Why was Kufour so corrupt? Kufour was corrupt because there were no institutions to prosecute him and his friends. Kufour did not destroy any anti corruption institutions. Kufour went straight to looting the resources of the country because in Ghana we don't have an independent agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting high level government officials.

So Akufo Addo should stop this nonsense about exposing. Just go straight---investigate, arrest, and prosecute. Set up undercover agents to do this. If corrupt officials know that the probability of being caught and prosecuted is not zero, then they will be deterred from engaging in corruption. The sad thing is that there is no deterrence mechanism in Ghana. Government officials engage in fraud with impunity. Ghana is a piece of shit.

How can a citizen pay $9000 duty or taxes on a car bought at $3500?

How great would overhauling and cleansing of the ports and import duties reduce the burdens of Ghanaians in the diaspora and our beloved nation at large.

Imagine the duties you have to pay if you send home your domestic items for personal used.

Imagine you buy a 2000 euros second hand vehicle, paying a maximum amount of 1000 euros as shipping and yet going home in Ghana to pay about 20000 Ghana cedi( equivalent to about 4500 euros). How can we as "burgas" come home nd help in developing the nation? Where would we get the cash? Which should the cost of living in Ghana be higher the western world.

The cleaning of the ports is very much welcome.

Nana the question is simple and the answer is also simple,the people outside the country want duties reduce, our contribution to the growth of the economy is bring in more stuff esp cars, but everywhere and Everytime you Dodge the question and answer differently?,while in Togo the President of Togo took you to the port of lome to show you why the city of Lome is booming and the ports in Ghana are dying slowly.high duties in Ghana are slowly killing our cities period.In Toronto shipment of cars to Ghana is about 90 per cent down .while cars to Togo,Benin Oil Rich Nigeria and Cameroon are booming no age limit. Nana do something for us for you are our only hope. release all cars confiscated by Mahama at the ports at 50 per cent off and Ken will get all the funds he needs for development.
