These are some of the reasons why I dislike former president Mahama. When in power, he acted as if galamsey was the newest thing on the block. He never spoke against it but rather, he dispatched our military to protect illegal mining as if he had a share in the booty.
Cocoa has been and will continue to be our bread winner despite the discovery of oil and why should we allow some disgruntled elements to destroy our cocoa farms for few pieces of gold?
The late Maj. Mahama who met his untimely death at Denkyira Obuase was there to protect a foreign company mining gold but our authorities are tight-lipped. They know how Ghanaians will react if we find out the truth.
Anybody or company that is caught destroying a cocoa tree in search of gold, should be tied to a tree and shot through the mouth.

As anybody done any study on galamsay and cocoa farming? Why would one choose any of the two?
For what is the incentive in the country for the cocoa industry when one would have to wait for a whole year for a new price is to be determined? What is the incentive when the price is good?
For me the process of determining cocoa producer price needs a total overhaul irrespective of international pricing as farmers do not obtain any benefits when there is a windfall.
Let's wake up and turn the industry round.
