As part of its crime combating activities dubbed “operation hit hard”, the Central Regional Police Command has arrested six suspected criminals from their various hideouts in the region.
The suspects who were arrested within the past week include Godwin Ameka alias Kobbies, Agyenkwa alias Raster, Prince Owusu, Kweku Kaja Amoako, Benjamin Awusi and Albert Togba.
The Police retrieved items including 31 wrappers of substances suspected to be drugs, iPad, laptops, mobile phones, screw drivers and live goats from their hideout in Cape Coast, Winneba, Moree and Kasoa.
The campaign is aimed at flushing out criminals to help reduce crime in communities, particularly along the major highways to ensure that people transact their businesses without fear and also live in peaceful environments.
Commissioner of Police (COP) Reverend David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, the Central Regional Police Commander, who briefed the media in Cape Coast assured the public that the police in the region were determined to go any length to arrest criminals.
To achieve that, he called on all to volunteer timely and accurate information and support the police to rid the region of all unscrupulous persons who keep harassing and terrorising individuals.
He said adequate policing, was a shared responsibility by all citizens and called for concerted efforts to maintain national peace.
The Regional Commander also asked residents of Kasoa who have been robbed of their belongings within the past week to contact the police for identification and collection.
