An Agogo Circuit Court presided over by Justice Alex Obeng Asante has sentenced a 25-year-old man to five years in prison for stealing a goat.

Kwabena Bukari, a resident of Ashaiman, was arrested after he attempted selling the animal.

Stating the fact of the case, Chief Inspector Leo Boateng told the court that the complainant, Kojo Abrakwa, who lived with the convict, detected for several weeks the mysterious disappearance of his goats from their pen.

He, therefore, lodged a complaint with the police.

According to Inspector Boateng, on August 14 around 3pm, a neighbor called Agyemang, spotted Bukari negotiating for a price of the goat he suspected has been stolen.

Agyemang confronted the convict, but he [Bukari] took to his heels living behind the goat.

The complainant was informed who subsequently reported the matter to the police.

Kwabena Bukari was arrested the following day and arranged before the court.

He was sentenced on his own plea and will spend the next five years in jail.
