JHS pupil in Police grip for defilement Bawku

Muideen Saibu, an 18- year Al-Ameen Junior High School pupil in Bawku has been arrested for allegedly defiling an eight year old class two pupil of Salvation Academy School at Azanga a suburb of Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The victim and the accused both attend schools in the same community.

Presenting the facts of the matter in court, Police Prosecutor Sergeant Samuel Awedaga of the Bawku Police Command, said the complainant is the father of the victim and that on December 9 at about 1400 hours, both the victim and the accused had closed from school and on the way home, the accused lured the victim into a nearby bush and defiled her.

Prosecutor Awedaga said during the act, a passerby saw them and called the father of the victim on telephone and informed him and he later reported the matter to the police.

He said the police medical form issued to the victim to go to hospital, indicated that she had been defiled and so the accused was subsequently arrested and put before court.

The Presiding Judge of the Bawku Circuit Court Justice Emmanuel Kofi Sunu, remanded the accused into prison custody to reappear in court on January 5, 2015.
