Kia truck run into a store, injuring two women

A Kia truck carrying thirty bags of beans and maize on Friday run into a store seriously injuring two women in the store at Tarkwa.

The victims, who are yet to be identified, are currently receiving treatment at the emergency unit of the Tarkwa Government Hospital.

The driver of the Kia truck, Daniel Mensah, 25, is in the custody of the police assisting them in their investigation.

The Tarkwa -Nsueam Divisional Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Honu-Broni, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said at about 1300 hours the Kia truck with registration number WR 3661-13 was travelling from Tarkwa market circle towards the Tarkwa main lorry station.

He said on reaching the Sag restaurant near the Tarkwa branch of Standard Chartered Bank, the Kia truck had a break failure and run into the store stocked with towels, bed sheets and door mats and trapped the two women who were going about their business.

ASP Honu-Broni said the accident is being investigated.
