Aggrieved Menzgold protesters who picketed in their numbers at the private residence of the gold firm’s CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah have been arrested by the police.
The customers who meant to vent their spleen at NAM1 over nonpayment of their monies bused themselves to Trasacco Valley in Accra.
The buses, numbering three consisted of 2 VIPs and a minivan; and conveyed about 500 people.
Some of the customers who were beside themselves with rage began to make a scene in front of the gates of the Menzgold CEO.
In response to the commotion which was happening in front of his house, an inmate fired a warning shot to deter the protesting customers. The incident sparked outrage and before long some of them began to hurl stones into the house.
A battalion of police personnel shortly arrived at the scene with 8 patrol cars to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
Upon seeing the dispatch cars, the crowd scattered in several directions as the Police immediately begun to make arrests.
The police personnel, led by Head of Operations Command, Supt. Kwasi Ofori rounded up over 60 of the customers after the remaining took to their heels.
He explained that the aggrieved customers made an unlawful entry into a private residence as well as demonstration without seeking clearance from his outfit.
