A policeman identified as Superintendent Kweku Mensah in his 30s has been shot by armed robbers on the Adansi Fomena road in the Ashanti Region.
The victim who was on a motorbike on his way to work at the time of the unfortunate incident on Monday evening is said to have been ambushed by the armed robbers and shot in the neck, but fortunately he survived.
According to Kumasi based Abusua FM reporter, Osei Kwadwo, soon after the attack eye witnesses rushed Superintendent Kweku Mensah to the Obuasi Government Hospital for treatment, however due to his critical condition he was transferred to the Konfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he’s currently at the intensive care unit.
This is the second time in recent times that police officers in the area have been attacked in such manner. Police in Fomena have vowed to clamp down on such criminals and ensure they face the law.
