Police have arrested a 22-year-old man, Evans Puplampu, for allegedly posing as a bandit in a viral TikTok video that sparked fear among sections of the public.
The suspect, known on TikTok as ‘Eyes Man,’ was picked up at Ashaiman in Accra and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to a release dated April 8, 2026, the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters in Accra intercepted the video on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The footage showed a masked young man posing as a bandit with the caption: “We are starting from Ghana churches.”
The post quickly went viral, causing panic, particularly within the Christian community.
The report said the PID immediately launched investigations to identify and apprehend those behind the video.

“On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, through sustained intelligence and surveillance, officers identified, located and arrested the suspect, Evans Puplampu, aged 22, at Ashaiman Community 22,” the report stated.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being the individual in the video.
He told investigators he was imitating a trending social media pose ‘for fun’ and had no malicious intent.
Police also retrieved a Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile phone believed to have been used to record and post the video.
The device has been kept as evidence.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing and have urged the public to refrain from sharing content that could incite fear or disrupt public order.
