Adenta Circuit Court has remanded Pastor William Gyimah into police custody following alleged threats made against Ghana’s Vice-President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

According to a report by graphic.com.gh on April 10, 2026, the order was issued by Her Honour Angela Attachie, who presided over the case after the accused was arraigned on charges linked to a viral social media video.

The prosecutors have stated that the accused faces charges of false communication under Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), as well as, publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm under Section 209 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

The prosecution told the court that Pastor Gyimah appeared in a widely circulated video on platforms such as TikTok, where he allegedly made false and threatening remarks directed at the Vice-President.

The state argued that the content of the video warranted further investigation and requested that the accused be remanded to assist with ongoing inquiries.

After considering the prosecution’s submission, the court ordered that the accused be held in police custody.

He is expected to reappear before the court on April 13, 2026.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with further proceedings anticipated in the coming days.
