I have seen situations where some people who commit criminal offences and they bear names like Ayariga, Tijani, Mashud, Asibi, etc., are considered to be northerners or Muslims and for that matter all the people from the north or Muslims were subjected to all kinds of insults. Ewes, Ashantis, Gas, etc are also attacked in similar manner. Why wouldn't those who attack everybody anyhow not target only offenders in their criticism and spare their people?
