The sentence is not deterrent at all. You defiled un innocent female child and all what the Judge can do is seven years which is the minimum.

7 years imprisonment for defiling 5 year minor by 31 year old man is the most lenient sentence I have come across judicial process in the country, the judge must consider the trauma that little girl passed through during the rape, I will appeal to minister of justice and Attorney General to review the sentence and ask the trial judge to submit a report on the sentence as why such lenient sentence was imposed on the offender

Why are there so many discrepancies in our sentencing guidelines in Ghana ? Seriously this must be taken up by the legal scholars and Ghanaians.
Someone steals a fowl or cell phone and they are give ten to fifteen years imprisonment, sometimes rapes a five year old girl and he is sentenced to seven years , some one steals millions of cedis of government money and he gets three years . Are these fair sentences? The judicial council must make sure that judges stay within the sentences guidelines to clamp down on some of these obnoxious sentences.
